Abstract
We propose a method for calculating refined Gopakumar-Vafa numbers or refined BPS numbers on compact elliptic fibered Calabi-Yau 3-folds, based on new refined holomorphic anomaly equations, inspired by the refined holomorphic anomaly equations for 5d Wilson loop observables. The key examples are smooth elliptic fibrations over Fano surfaces. We argue that the refined BPS numbers on the elliptic fibration over a del Pezzo surface can be related to Wilson loop observables in the 5d N = 1 supersymmetric gauge theory that is geometrically engineered from the local del Pezzo surface. In this talk, I will explain the logic of these connections. This talk is based on the in-progress collaboration with Minxin Huang, Sheldon Katz, and Albrecht Klemm.
