Title: Ideal circle patterns on surfaces

Abstract:
In this talk, I will introduce the history and some recent progress of ideal circle patterns on surfaces. The variational principles and geometric flows on ideal circle patterns will be explained. Moreover, I will introduce the variational principle on total geodesic curvatures in spherical background geometry which was discovered by Xin Nie. Finally, I will introduce combinatorial curvature flows in spherical background geometry, which is based on several joint works with Huabin Ge, Bobo Hua and Ziping Lei.
If time permits, we will also discuss the discrete conformal structure on surfaces and combinatorial Yamabe flows which were introduced by Feng Luo.
