Abstract
In this talk, I will explain the basic idea of matrix product state (MPS) algorithm for the 1D quantum systems using Vidal’s notation. Then I will introduce two different approaches to obtain the ground state wavefunction for certain Hamiltonian, corresponding to density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) and time-evolving block decimation (TEBD) respectively. Finally, I will introduce the idea of infinite TEBD (iTEBD) algorithm to represent wavefunctions in the thermodynamic limit. Within the construction of so-called canonical form, I will explain that why this algorithm performs well for infinite large systems.

Xiao Wang is currently a third-year Ph.D. student in physics at Tsung-Dao Lee Institute (TDLI), under the supervision of Prof. Jianda Wu. His research interests are deformed conformal field theories and their related topics in 1D quantum world, including near critical quantum materials, non-equilibrium many-body systems and exotic topological systems, based on both analytical calculation, such as the form factor bootstrap techniques, and numerical simulation, such as the matrix product state algorithm.
