Math-Physics Lunch Seminar

Starting from 2022, the Math-Physics Group at SEU Yau Center will start regular lunch seminar. The general goal is to create a causual and free atmosphere for discussing new developments in theoretical physics, teaching ourselves about different subjects in physics and mathematics, sparking new ideas and collaborations...while enjoying the lunch.

While the atmosphere is expected to be free, lunch is not (because our fundings are not flexible enough to buy food and our salaries are not high enough to pay for everyone). We welcome external participants to join the fun, but with their own lunch :)

Here below is the information of this Thursday's lunch seminar.

Abstract:

In this informal talk, I will describe using generalized coherent states to describe BPS and near BPS states, in gauge-string duality. These coherent states may be viewed as a generating function of multi trace states or multi string states. These are related to giant graviton states and realize open-closed dualities. The computations can be simplified by group integrals, localization methods, and permutations. The coherent state representation facilitates the calculation of ladder operators and hence the dilatation operator. For instance, it converts dilatation operator manipulations to algebraic number manipulations. If there is more time, I will talk about covariant string-added coherent state, capturing a class of near BPS spectra.
