报告摘要：
The Chow groups CHp(X) of algebraic cycles of codimensionp modulo rational equivalence on a smooth quasiprojective algebraic variety X are among the most basic and, when p 2, most mysterious objects in algebraic geometry. This talk is a report on the study of the tangent spaces TCHp(X) and higher order tangents, the formal completiond CHp(X). This theory was initiated by Bloch, and has been studied by Green and Griths. We will discuss extensions of these results, in collaboration with Ben Dribus and Sen Yang. This involves ideas from K-theory and cyclic homology. Future directions and open problems will be discussed.

Jerome William Hoffman, 美国路易斯安娜州立大学教授。1973年本科毕业于普林斯顿大学，1977年在Hironaka(Fields 1970)的指导下，在哈佛大学获得博士学位。长期从事代数几何与数论的研究，主要研究成果发表在Duke Math.J, Mem. Amer. Math. Soc, Advance.Math等多个有影响力的期刊上。
