Abstract
The seminal work of Belavin, Polyakov and Zamolodchikov produced an infinite family of exactly solvable two-dimensional conformal field theories, the Virasoro minimal models. Lagrangian descriptions have remained largely restricted to the unitary series, the only well-established non-unitary example being the M(2,5) Yang–Lee CFT.
In this talk I will present Ginzburg–Landau (GL) Lagrangians for the D-type modular invariants of the M(3,8) and M(3,10) minimal models, built from two scalar fields with cubic interactions and imaginary couplings. I will then discuss a supersymmetric generalization, which yields a GL description of the exceptional (E₆, D₈) modular invariant of the N=1 superconformal minimal model SM(12,14). Continued to three dimensions, this supersymmetric Lagrangian predicts a new unitary supersymmetric CFT.
