Abstract 

It has long been appreciated that exactly solved mathematical models describing the statistical mechanics of interacting particles have played a key role in the development of formerly unrelated areas of mathematics and theoretical physics, such as the study of quantum groups, combinatorics, conformal field theory, nuclear physics and condensed matter physics. However, over the past two decades striking experimental achievements in trapping and cooling atoms in one-dimensional optical waveguides have provided remarkable realisations of exactly solved models in the lab. More generally the study of cold atomic matter and solid state materials provides a unique environment to explore novel quantum many-body effects like quantum liquids, quantum correlations, quantum criticality, nonequlibrium thermodynamics and hydrodynamics in 1D. In my series lectures, I will describe some of these fundamental mathematical models and their relevance to recent and future experiments on such exotic many-body physics.

About the Speaker

管习文,1998年在吉林大学物理学院取得博士学位。随后到2002年期间在德国和巴西从事博士后研究。2003-2009年期间在澳大利亚国立大学物理与工程研究院任研究员,2009-2013年任高级研究员,201210月在中科院武汉物理与数学研究所任研究员。他担任国家科技部重大科学研究计划项目的首席科学家和国家自然科学基金重点项目主持人,同时是美国哈佛大学、洛斯阿拉莫斯国家实验室等世界一流研究机构的高级访问学者, 清华大学高等研究院客座教授,香港中文大学杨振宁访问学人,自2011年一直是英国《Journal of Physics A》的Advisory Panel成员,自20201月担任该杂志的编委,2023年起担任执行编委。自2013年回国来,获得研究院5次科技突破奖和杰出人才奖,2022年获得中国科学院优秀博士导师称号。

管习文长期从事冷原子少体和多体物理系统和自旋系统的严格解研究,在一维量子多体系统的热力学,临界物质,量子相变及磁学性质方面取得了一系列在国际上颇具影响力的研究成果。 至今发表140余篇SCI论文,包括世界顶尖期刊《Science》、《Review of Modern Physics》、《Report on Progress in Physics》、《Advance in Physics》、《National Science Review》、《Nature》子刊、《Physical Review Letters》等。
